Vitamins and Hair Growth – Part 2
Vitamins A & C
So, I’ve been researching more about vitamins as it relates to hair growth. In Vitamins and Hair Growth Part 1 I mentioned two vitamins (B and E). Today I would like to discuss Vitamin A and Vitamin C.
Vitamin A: Vitamin A promotes moisture in the hair. This vitamin type is said to aid in secreting sebum in the scalp. The sebum helps to keep the hair from dryness and it also provides sheen and softness.
Some experts suggest that we should consume between 5,000 and 6,000 IU of Vitamin A per day.
Caution: Only stick to the recommended amounts. An intake of Vitamin A that is more than the recommended dosage can be very toxic for the body.
Try to incorporate Vitamin A into your daily diet by eating most sources of protein, carrots, spinach, cabbage, broccoli, apricots, and peaches. Yummy!!!
Vitamin C: we know Vitamin C to be great for the immune system, however, it is also said to be helpful in developing healthy hair. Experts say that you need 60 mg a day in order to produce healthy hair and skin. Here are some ideas of adding Vitamin C to your daily life. Eat citrus fruit such kiwi, strawberries, cantaloupe, and pineapple. You can also add dark green vegetables, green peppers, and tomatoes. Potatoes are also said to be good sources of Vitamin C.
