Tips That have Helped Me In Growing My Fine Hair Long

Help for Thinning Hair

Tips and Advice for Women With Thin or Fine Hair Part 1

Tip 1 – Embrace your hair: Love your hair for its fine characteristics and find what works for your hair.

Tip 2 – Less is more:Your hair only takes in what it has the ability to absorb. Anything extra could coat the strands and cause build up. When product builds up on the strands it can cause hair breakage and hair damage. Ultimately this defeats your purpose for growing long healthy hair.

Tip 3 – Limit direct heat: By direct heat, I mean blow dryers, flat irons, and curling irons. Using direct heat on a daily basis is not healthy for fine strands. The end result is breakage, damage and weakened hair strands. What I learned with my fine strands, is that using a hooded dryer to dry my hair and limiting direct heat to once a month to every two months ensured healthy hair.

Tip 4 – Relaxer stretching: In my healthy hair care journey I quickly learned that stretching my relaxers is one of the top reasons that my thin hair became healthy and grew longer. Due to the softness of my fine strands, getting a relaxer touch up every 6-8 weeks caused more stress on the hair. I eased my way into stretching, the first time I stretched to 12 weeks, 14 weeks, 16 weeks and more. Although, I discovered that a 16-17 weeks relaxer stretch is a healthy limit for my hair.

Stayed tuned…there are more tips to come!
