Thin Hair Care: Thin Hair vs. Fine Hair

Thin Hair Care: Thin Hair vs. Fine Hair

Often, the terms “thin hair” and “fine hair” are used interchangeably with one another. However, to add value to your thin hair care regimen it is important to understand that there is a distinct difference between these two terminologies. The term “fine” refers to the actual diameter of the shaft of an individual hair strand. The term “thin” is used to reference the number of hairs per square inch dispersed amongst the entire head and is also used to describe the density of an individual’s hair. Regardless of the term that is used to describe one’s tresses, the same problems often occur with each hair type.

Hair texture is often described in terms of fine, medium, or coarse, which refers to the diameter of the strands. Hair density is usually described in terms of thin, medium, or thick, which refers to the compactness or concentration of the hair. The texture a person is born with is often determined by their genetic makeup. On the other hand, thin hair can be caused by a wide variety of factors, like an individual’s diet, their age, illnesses, etc.. It is best to consult your physician in order to determine the underlying cause, usually the cause can often be successfully treated and the effects reversed.

If you are one of those who have either texture or type, you may find that it is difficult for your locks to maintain a fuller or healthier appearance. Additionally, you may typically discover that your hair is much more susceptible to damage from chemical and styling processes. However, there are now numerous products, such as shampoos for thinning hair and volumizing conditioners, which are formulated specifically to deal with these types of problems. Furthermore, most hair stylists are well qualified to provide advice about which products and hair styles will most adequately disguise, assist, and prevent damage to thin fine hair.

It’s best to first determine what is causing the thinning around your hairline. Once you determine that, I would doing scalp massages (massage 3-5 minutes every night before going to bed) with castor oil.

I started wearing 2 tracks for fullness, Then moved on to full weaves. Now my hair is extremely then. Will you tell me your step what you do for your hair? How do you wash it? Do you wear wigs, half wigs, braid your hair, twist your hair. What do you I am so lost.

I’m glad you are loving this site.

It’s possible that your hair may need a break from from full weaves and tracks. If you’re going to use weaves, I would suggest a sew in. I also suggest that you use a stylist who is trained in healthy hair care using weaves. It’s important when wearing weaves, that you still take care of your real hair underneath. I usually wash my hair in the shower. I try to use shampoos that are sulfate free. I would suggest deep conditioning once a week. You can also do a protein treatment every 6 weeks, following up with a moisturizing conditioner.

Let me know if you have any more questions!
