Try Shampooing Your Hair This Way!
An Alternative to the Traditional Way
This is an alternative to the traditional way of shampooing the hair that I stumbled across a couple of years back. The goal of this shampooing style is to decrease manipulation, avoid breakage, and avoid dryness. A lot of times we use way too much shampoo on our hair. When in reality it is our scalp that needs the most cleaning. A healthy scalp promotes healthy hair growth. Try this method of shampooing and let me know what you think. I’ve tried it and really like it! I’ve forgotten about it, but now I’m back on it. Enjoy!
Take an applicator bottle (the same type used to apply a rinse or hair dye), add at least two capfuls (or two quarter size dollops) to the applicator, add water until the bottle is half full (more or less depending on the size of the applicator bottle), and mix to dilute the shampoo.
Take the applicator bottle and apply the diluted shampoo to your scalp (like you would if you were oiling your scalp), massage your scalp ensuring that you are cleaning your scalp to create lather, do not pour on the strands of your hair. Let the water from your shower (sink or tub or however way you are washing your hair) rinse the shampoo from your hair. As the shampoo is rinsing from the scalp it will wash your strands without your manipulating them. This decreases the amount of manipulation to your fine strands, in return minimizing breakage and stress to your hair.
After the first rinse it’s up to you if you want to repeat the process again to ensure that your scalp is completely clean. You know what’s best for your hair. When you are done with the process, lightly squeeze access water from your hair before you move on to deep conditioning and styling.
