Protective Style – Updo
An Easy Updo
This is one of my favorite protective styles! I have been wearing it for years! I absolutely love it! It’s a great protective style that is suitable for work, church, a night out, or when you’re just chilling.
Here’s how I’ve achieve this hair style
- I first pull out a little bang (put a big roller on it to provide the swoop bang look in the front).
- I then create a middle part for the rest of my hair.
- Comb/brush the hair up in the back and secure that section with a bobby pin. At this point you
should only have the two front sides of your hair hanging.
- I take a baby brush and brush the right section of hair to the back and secure that section with one
or two bobby pins.
- I repeat the same process with the left side.
- I usually have hair sticking up at the top (if your hair is of a shorter length, you may not have extra hair sticking up at the top) and secure that with bobby pins. This helps to create the “bow-like” effect in the back that you see in the photo.
Tip: this protective style also looks great without the swoop bang
Note: When wearing the updo or the bun, it’s a perfect opportunity to really keep your thin hair moisturized with a homemade moisturizer spritz or any brand of moisturizers.
